Founded 1820
Historic St. Paul A.M.E. Church is among Kentucky’s oldest continuously active African American congregations. Organized in 1820 in Lexington, Kentucky, our congregation has carried forward more than two centuries of faith, worship, service, and community.
Our historic 1826 sanctuary is a significant African American historic site with documented connections to the Underground Railroad and continues to serve as a living place of worship and ministry.
Rooted in faith, freedom, education, service, and community, Historic St. Paul remains committed to honoring the legacy entrusted to us while serving present and future generations.
Purchases from the Historic St. Paul Marketplace help support our ministry, special programs and events, community outreach, and the ongoing preservation of our historic 1826 sanctuary.
Thank you for shopping with purpose and helping preserve a legacy more than 200 years in the making.
